Branding know-how: Make a good first impression

Rev up your workshop with these tips and ideas.

How do you keep customers coming back? Obviously, service is key – but you may not realise the importance of the overall impression your workshop makes.

Like it or not, humans tend to base their judgments on appearances. The good news is that there’s plenty you can do to create a space that’s sure to elicit a positive judgement – and many of these actions require very little effort on your part.

For instance, don’t underestimate the impact of a clean, tidy workshop. Think about it: if you were in your customers’ shoes, would you prefer to work with a mechanic whose workshop looked in order, hinting that they have everything under control, or whose space is messy and chaotic? It’s not only the reception area that counts here: every single part of your workshop contributes to the overall impression, so consider how the parking area, the restrooms, and even the ramps are maintained.

That’s a good first step. Beyond, that, though, small details will take your customers’ experience to the next level: think free wifi or a coffee station in reception. And don’t forget to display your MIWA grading as a hallmark of your dedication to excellence.
