MIWA Magic moments

Find out what we’re celebrating this month.

Here are the achievements and highlights we’re celebrating this month:

5-Star Grading

Congratulations to Lesley’s Performance Centre, Pencox Auto-Air, and Carmichael Service and Repairs Centre, all in Middelburg, as well as Car Care Clinic in Menlyn, Menlyn Auto Centre, The BM Guy and Touching Cars. All recently underwent grading, and are now certified five-star workshops.

RMI attends Career Fair hosted by False Bay TVET College

RMI was recently one of several employers invited to attend a Career Fair hosted by False Bay TVET College. This annual event gives exit-level students an opportunity to meet with prospective employers, learn more about what they do and what they offer, and what the sector is all about. As a provider of training in spray painting, panel beating, and motor mechanics, the College is a supplier of future talent for the industry, and we were very excited to receive CVs from two engineering students looking for opportunities, bearing out our belief that this is an attractive and dynamic industry for tomorrow’s generation.

RMI Branding

Auto Worx is the latest workshop to embrace our new branding. Remember that this branding is a key signal that you are part of the MIWA family; an instant sign of professionalism and expertise.

Powertrans Bosch in Ballito wins a prestigious award

Kudos goes to Powertrans Bosch in Ballito, which was recently named the winner of Bosch South Africa’s Best Quality Workshop Award. This award recognises the three-year-old workshop’s commitment to professionalism and excellence, as well as the quality of workmanship provided by an expert team.

Morne de Jager joins us as KZN Associational Representative

Welcome on board, Morne de Jager, who joins us as KZN Associational Representative. Morne started his career as an apprentice diesel mechanic before honing his skills in this area, then moving across into management. He has worked in several OEM dealership workshops and transport/logistics workshops and, most recently, was a fleet inspector for Wesbank. Morne is looking forward to helping new and existing members grow their businesses. “I have a hands-on approach, which is complemented by extensive technical knowledge and understanding of the workshop environment,” he says.

Congratulations to Marks Mokone who finished his 5th Comrade Marathon

Well done to Marks Mokone, who finished his fifth Comrades Marathon with a time of 11:54. The 43-year-old HR and Transformation Administrator is aiming to complete 10 Comrades, and earn a Green Number. The achievement makes all the mental and physical preparation worthwhile, says Marks, who uses running as a chance to be mentally fit, network, and deepen his understanding of people.

Bruno Burri of Swedo-Tech Service shows wonderful community spirit

Bruno Burri of Swedo-Tech Service showed the community spirit we cherish at MIWA when he reacted swiftly to a burst pipe in Bloemfontein’s city centre. The damage to the pipe had not only caused businesses and residents to go without water but had resulted in the collapse of the street where it was located. Bruno came to the rescue, reporting the problem to the Mangaung Metro, then making the area safe for passers-by by placing tyres and warning signs around the hole.
