Right2Repair welcomes Ford on board

A warm welcome to Ford, which has signaled its support of Right2Repair South Africa.

We’re pleased to announce that Ford Motor Company Africa has become the second vehicle manufacturer to support Right2Repair South Africa.

Ford Motor Company Africa President, Neale Hill,  announced earlier in November that the company would honour warranties where customers had chosen to take their vehicles to an ISP for services, and unbundled the price of value-added products from the overall price of vehicles. Hill said that this is a sign of Ford’s awareness of consumers’ right – and growing desire – to have their car serviced, maintained or repaired wherever they pleased.

Ford joins Volkswagen as the second manufacturer to comply with the Guidelines to Competition in the South African Automotive Aftermarket since they were implemented in July; an encouraging sign since the slow dealer compliance has been a matter of concern.

“This is really great news for MIWA members and we are confident other OEMs will follow suit early in the new year,” says Pieter Niemand, national director of MIWA.
