Commission Draft Guidelines for Automotive aftermarket sector
This week the Competition Commission published its draft guidelines for the Automotive Aftermarket sector. For the past six years MIWA has supported the Right to Repair campaign in lobbying for an environment where consumers can select where their vehicles are serviced, maintained and repaired. The draft guidelines represent a big win for all parties and the Commission should be commended on following the international Right to Repair trend, which promotes South Africa’s existing consumer and competition laws. The guidelines speak to the elimination of anticompetitive behaviour in the market, to transparency, to an equal playing field for smaller business, to competitive pricing and to freedom of choice.
