Rising Talent – Third-year apprentice at D&T Servicing thriving

It’s always exciting to meet the people who are going to take our industry into the future. Take Joshua Kretzmann, who is completing the third year of his apprenticeship at D&T Servicing, for example. Joshua loves the problem-solving aspect of the job and enjoys rising to each new challenge he encounters in the workshop. This gives him the opportunity to learn new ways to repair a vehicle efficiently and accurately. Learning is a priority for Joshua: his advice to other young people thinking of entering the industry is to keep an eye out for learning opportunities; to take the initiative to increase your knowledge (even when you’re not at work) and to prepare for hard work. It will be rewarded, he assures: once you’ve invested time and effort, there is immense satisfaction from repairing a car successfully.

Congratulations Charles Baxter on your 50th work anniversary!

Huge congratulations to Charles Baxter from Baxter Auto on reaching another work anniversary. Your leadership has turned challenges into opportunities and your passion is a driving force for us all. Congratulations on your 50th work anniversary.  A half a century of dedication, leadership and remarkable contributions. Your journey is a beacon of inspiration for us all. Well done Charles.

An unsung hero on the road

Nico Fourie with his son Dirko.

We always talk about the calibre of our outstanding members and this month we want to give a big shout out to Nico Fourie, owner of Toyniss Service Centre in Klerksdorp. This is one gentleman you want around if you are ever in trouble. He recently received a shout-out on Facebook from Gareth Marks who called him an “unsung hero on the road”. Gareth’s car broke down over the Easter weekend and this is what he had to say. “Today I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to the kind soul who came to my aid during a vehicle breakdown. In a world that’s always rushing, it’s rare to find someone willing to lend a hand.”  Nico did not hesitate to offer assistance and Gareth said “his generosity has not gone unnoticed”. He said “Your knowledge of vehicles and your willingness to get your hands dirty to help a stranger are truly commendable.

“Thank you for not just your mechanical skills, but for the kindness and reassurance you provided in a stressful situation. You reminded me that there are still good people in the world who are ready to help others in need. Your act of kindness is a beacon of hope and a reminder of the goodness in humanity. Thank you for being an unsung hero on the road.”

Wow!! Thank you Gareth for acknowledging Nico and thank you Nico for always flying the MIWA flag so high – we salute you, sir!
