Our new year is off to an exciting start, with a brand new team at the helm. Welcome and congratulations to Ipeleng Mabusela, who took the title of CEO: Strategy and Corporate Support on 1 January, and Jan Schoeman, whose new role as CEO: Operations and Regulatory Compliance commenced that same day.
Ipeleng and Jan take over from former CEO Jakkie Olivier, who served our industry for 30 years; the past 10 of which saw him heading up the RMI as CEO before he retired last year. While Jakkie’s enormous contribution to the industry stands as a commendable legacy, the two new co-CEOs are certain to have a similar impact: Ipeleng has more than 10 years’ experience in strategy, operations, and new business development bolstering his BSc in Mechanical Engineering and MBA qualifications. Prior to joining the RMI, he headed Operations and Strategy at the Automotive Industry Fund, an organisation that supports the transformation of South Africa’s automotive industry.
Meanwhile, Jan is no newcomer to the RMI: a member of the organisation for 25 years, he previously held the post of Chief Operations Officer and has qualifications in labour law, labour economics and macroeconomics in addition to a graduate qualification in industrial psychology and public administration.
The combined skills of Ipeleng and Jan are certain to set RMI and MIWA on a dynamic trajectory – we look forward to working with you both!
