Talent shines bright at Motor Mech

Motor Mech’s first ever Worcester event stayed true to its aim of inspiring the next generation of workshop owners.

The first Motor Mech show to be hosted in Worcester proved to be a standout success; not only because of the calibre of talent participating in the event, but also because two of the participants of the Junior Motor Mech Competition were female.

Anishia Stewe proudly participates in Motor Mech Worcester.

This marks a significant milestone, as one of the key aims of Motor Mech is to offer exposure to youngsters who may be considering a career in the industry – a bid to address current skills shortages. At the same time, MIWA has mounted an ongoing campaign to attract more women to the industry.

Worcester’s event was hosted at HTS Drostdy and attracted a large number of motor enthusiasts, including women eager to up their vehicle know-how at the Women’s Workshop.

Competition winners included first-place holder Xander Booysen (who previously won the WCED Skills Competition in 2022, coming second in 2023), second-place winner Peter Viljoen and third-place winner Cato Carsen. Meanwhile, Sunita van Rensburg and Anishia Stewe were eager to show that anything their male counterparts could do, they could do, too.

Other gold sponsors included Worcester Autozone, TIH Advisory and MasterDrive. Thank you to all of you for your generous prizes and contribution to the success of our show.
